A fine South Indian axe with the steel head chiselled at the base with a yali head breathing a panel of engraved wind or fire. A moulded socket fitted to a hardwood haft surmounted with a small bud shaped finial over a brass washer. The iron grip engraved en suite with the head, with a circular handguard engraved with scrollwork and foliage and broad tapering recurved knuckle-guard with a yali head terminal.
