Daniela Izaguirre Goswami’s (b. 1990) practice aims at creating bold visions of beauty that inspire noble sentiments in the audience. Drawing on methodologies from dramaturgical exercises, she builds structures of meaning from the inside out. Like a sibyl or a Japanese pearl diver, she dives deep into the reality presented in front of her to find its seed and nucleus, churning its sap (reality) to its bone marrow.
Growing up in Peru – a pluralistic land of oracles and mystical by birth right – she has come to understand culture as a bridge and ground for fruitful encounters. The flavor and temperament of the Peruvian historical and lived identity is that of fusion: merging, mixture, the assimilation of various tastes, sounds and images, born from the marriage and friendship of two imperial worlds.
Izaguirre Goswami studied visual arts at Savannah College of Art and Design after receiving the Francis Larkin Mccommon Full-Tuition scholarship, graduating with a BFA in Painting and Minors in Production Design (Theatre) and Ceramics. Graduated from the New York Academy of Art (NYAA) with an MFA in Painting and was selected to be part of the Artist Residency Program at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing (2015). In 2024 she was awarded a fellowship place at the conference ‘A New Path for Beauty’ organized at the Roger Scruton Foundation at Peterhouse, Cambridge University.
She gave the lecture ‘EIELSON: Ordinary Mystic. Poetics and visual poetry: Haiku perspective.’ at the International Congress ‘The Infinite Face of Jorge Eduardo Eielson’ organized by King’s College London, Centro Studi Jorge Eduardo Eielson (Italy) and the Catholic University of Peru (2021).
She received the prize for second place in the MAPFRE National Painting Contest (2017). She has curated group shows in New York and Beijing’s 798 art district. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Beijing, and Lima. Her work is part of international public and private collections.
