Arjun Singh Assa

Arjun Singh Assa (b. 1992) is a multidisciplinary designer, maker, and artist whose practice bridges generational craftsmanship with contemporary design. His journey began in his family’s woodworking business in Mombasa, Kenya, where he absorbed a deep, artisanal understanding of material and form. From bespoke pieces to large-scale commercial projects, these early experiences laid the foundation for his creative approach.

Now based in the UK, Arjun has continued to develop a practice that honours traditional woodcraft while embracing modern innovation. His work has been featured at the London Design Festival on two occasions. In 2019, he was awarded Product of the Year at 100% Design for his sculptural Weave Chair. In 2024, he was commissioned by the Victoria and Albert Museum as part of their Emerging Designer Programme, where he presented Sitting With Your Virtues and Vices - a contemplative bench exploring duality and self-reflection through form.

With each piece, Arjun invites us into a dialogue between tradition and experimentation.
