Full Description:

A striking late 19th, early 20th century keris from Malaysia. The dapur (blade shape) is classified as balebang with 7 luk (waves). The beautifully crafted pamor (blade pattern) is known as ron kenduru (palm leaf) and is of a type traditionally owned by Kraton royals.

A wooden scabbard with a wrangka (boat shaped throat piece) in the kalentan prahu shape in akasia wood. The gandar (main body of the scabbard) in angsana wood with a horn inlaid and integral shape. The hilt of stylised zoomophoric form known as jawa deman in akasia wood. The mendak (cup that sits at the base of the hilt) in silver known as a pedongkok.

Often the original intention that the keris has magical and spiritual qualities is ignored, and the keris just considered an object or a weapon. In honour of the traditions of the keris and the empu (talented smiths) who made them, I would like to note what each pamor represents. Pamor ron kenduru brings respect in society, authority and good leadership. Good for people responsible for many people / employees.
